I have a bottle of Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 1988. I love Brunello, but generally speaking I don’t know that much about wine, and I’ve never tried aging one before. I was thinking of breaking it out some time around Christmas to share with my husband and my dad. So my questions are:

–Is this the right time to do it?

–I don’t possess a decanter. Is one necessary? Can I improvise? And how is it done anyway?

–Is it likely to be any good? Did I leave it too long???

Thanks in advance for any advice.
